Blog Post 4

My research proposal is going well so far. I’ve already put in the revisions for the literature review and added that section into the proposal. I’ve also put in the headings for the different sections and got most of the introduction done. I have put in some ideas for the different sections by fleshing out my outline a bit. I’ve been looking for a good guide on how to analyze the different sources I have to fit with what I’m trying to find. I will be meeting with Dr. B on November 6, and we’ll be able to discuss some more ideas for my proposal.

Blog Post 3

Hi! Welcome to my third blog post. For my research, there is a population gap that I would like to focus on. In my research, I noticed that there was a lot about cultural differences between countries, but there wasn't a whole lot about specific countries. The countries that were mentioned had very specific examples given. I wanted to focus my research more specifically on the differences between culture in the United States, England, and Australia and how those differences have impacted business' impact and effectiveness in each country. These countries all speak the same language, but there are slight differences in many words and phrases, so I would also like to look at how that has impacted businesses.

Blog Post 2

Hi! This is my second blog post for this class. Here are my tentative 10 sources. There are 8 from PTW journals and 2 from JSTOR. I'm planning on doing my project on how different English is across cultures and how that affects our communication, so I think these sources will help me learn more about that.  Sage Journals: Source 1) Language and Empiricism by Paul M. Dombrowski Source 2) Designing Interculturally: Adopting a Social Justice Research Framework for "Seeing Difference" by Therese I. Pennell  Source 3) Moving International Technical Communication Forward: A World Englishes Approach by Michael Jarvis Kwadzo Bokor, Ph.D.  Source 4) The "Multimodal Spiral": Rethinking the Communication Curriculum at an English as a Medium of Instruction Institution by Matthew Overstreet, Curtis Carbonell, and Diana Akhmedjanova Source 5) Stylistic Differences in Multilingual Administrative Forms: A Cross-Linguistic Characterization by Julia Lavid and Maite Taboada Proq...

Blog Post 1: Topics

Hi! Welcome to my English 3450 blog post. I have always been interested in how language has evolved over the years and how different the same language can be in different countries, so I thought of two different topics that go along with this. One of the ideas I was thinking of doing my project on was language and how it has impacted our society and culture. I could maybe compare and contrast the language of the different countries that speak English, how they have changed over time, and how/why those changes came about. I was also thinking of doing it on how literature has developed over time because of what was happening during the time and the impact it had on society. I could find different articles in the school’s library for research on both of these topics. Topic: Language evolution in different countries Goal: Understand how the English language has evolved over the years in different countries Questions: Why has English evolved? Why is it different in all of the countries that...
