Blog Post 3

 Hi! Welcome to my third blog post. For my research, there is a population gap that I would like to focus on. In my research, I noticed that there was a lot about cultural differences between countries, but there wasn't a whole lot about specific countries. The countries that were mentioned had very specific examples given. I wanted to focus my research more specifically on the differences between culture in the United States, England, and Australia and how those differences have impacted business' impact and effectiveness in each country. These countries all speak the same language, but there are slight differences in many words and phrases, so I would also like to look at how that has impacted businesses.

    Good job clearly identifying your research gap type. I think this will help steer your research in the right direction so good work on that. I am excited to see how your work turns out!

    Hi Siella,

    This is a pretty good research gap to look into for your topic. I think focusing your research on the US, England, and AU will give a lot of good differences that influence the impact they have in other countries. I am interested to see where this goes!

    Hi Siella,

    I think your Lit. Review and blog #3 both suggest great possibilities for research on international business communication from a PTW standpoint. After having read your synthesized sources from the previous writing assignment, I really like your idea of focusing on how culture and language affect business communication (and practices, etc.). Your blog reflection seems to springboard a rhetorical exigency for this type of inquiry and am sure, once your research design/proposal has been set from a specific research methodology (and if conducted after 3450), it would be a welcome addition to PTW scholarship. I believe you've established a good opening/edge here to pursue your topic all the more. Am looking forward to chatting with you more about your plans.

  My research proposal is going well so far. I’ve already put in the revisions for the literature review and added that section into the proposal. I’ve also put in the headings for the different sections and got most of the introduction done. I have put in some ideas for the different sections by fleshing out my outline a bit. I’ve been looking for a good guide on how to analyze the different sources I have to fit with what I’m trying to find. I will be meeting with Dr. B on November 6, and we’ll be able to discuss some more ideas for my proposal.

Blog Post 5

Hi! Welcome to my last blog post for this class. a) In this class, I have learned a lot of things about designing a research study. I have never done anything like this before, so it was very interesting to see the different things that go into it. I learned how to write a literature review and about the work that goes into that. It was very cool to read the scholarly journals and learn more about a topic in PTW that I find interesting. I also learned more about how to organize my writing, and I learned about all of the different methods of research. I had heard of several of them, but in this class, I learned a lot more about each one. This class was a very new and interesting experience for me. b) My career plan is to go into copyediting for a book publishing company. This class has taught me how to organize ideas that I have, which may help me help others when they are organizing their ideas for a book.
